Balloon Sinuplasty

Balloon Sinuplasty™ technology extends the sinus surgery evolution by offering Dr. Alavi additional tools for endoscopic surgery. The Relieva Balloon Sinuplasty™ products are catheter-based devices designed to assist otolaryngologists in further meeting their surgical goals of clearing blocked sinuses, restoring normal sinus drainage and function, and preserving normal anatomy and mucosal tissue.

Nasal Allergy Symptoms

The term rhinitis refers to an inflammatory response of the lining of the membrane of the nose. There are numerous causes of rhinitis and allergic rhinitis is just one of them. Up to 20% of the population suffer to some degree from nasal allergy symptoms that include sneezing, a runny nose or a blocked nose.

Nasal Congestion

Nasal congestion, or a ‘stuffy’, ‘blocked’ or ‘bunged up’ nose, is one of the most common conditions often associated with colds, allergies or sinus problems.

Rhinoplasty is by far the most complicated of the facial plastic surgical operations. The thickness and texture of your skin, the strength, shape, and symmetry of the nasal bones and cartilages, healing power of your body following surgery, and, of course, the skill of the surgeon, all have an impact on the outcome.

Sinusitis & Sinus Surgery

In most cases sinusitis can be treated effectively by medications and correcting any underlying cause such as allergies. If conservative treatment fails then sinus surgery may be considered.

The nose filters the air you breathe, removing dust/pollen, germs, and irritants. It regulates the air (temperature and moisture) to keep your lungs and tubes that lead to them from drying out. Your nose also contains the nerve cells that help your sense of smell. The shape of your nose is determined by the ethmoid bone and the nasal septum, which consists mostly of cartilage and which separates the nostrils.
